Here’s what I know that you should too.
Pinterest has skyrocketed since it’s inception into the third largest search engine-just behind google and YouTube. It has gone public and is doing well, so well that I heard the other day that Microsoft is making it’s move to acquire it. So far Pinterest has shed it off and remained want it wants to so as to represent the culture it wants to. Bravo!
Like Pinterest, so many of us entrepreneurs and businesses want to make sure that we keep in touch with what makes our business special and to get like-minds to gravitate towards us. In my About section I described
I’m a frugal sort and like to get the most out of anything that I can get, and with Pinterest’s organic reach I can gain interest of my ideal users with some simple clicks of a button. It isn’t a budget buster but it offers such great reach for unbranded searches. To me that means the big dogs, with all their marketing money, aren’t grabbing hold of the Pinterest scrollers as well as you can with a smart and appealing Pinterest footprint. Don’t get me wrong, the high-enders do pop up early on in search results but are rarely the top pin. Pinterest is a free resource to market your brand and products and the organic feed works wonderfully and that appeals to me for my business and as a marketing alternative for any small business or entrepreneur that fits the Pinterest model.
Bring the patience Pinterest needs to get momentum going with your account. It is not instantaneous like social media. Remember it is a search engine and positive results may not show up for the first 2 to 3 months.
Consider how much or how little detail you need in your Monthly Progress and Growth reports. I recommend Monthly follower growth, Pinterest session growth and sources of Pinterest traffic to your website or the linked content.
You’re considering Pinterest but not sure? If you think about it, NOT being on Pinterest is like choosing to opt off of google. Would you not be sure of being on google?

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
